FAQs

What is Droewors?
Droewors ("dry wors") is a delectable South African snack that packs a protein punch. It is a sibling to biltong but with its distinct characteristics. The air-dried, seasoned beef formed into thin sausages – that's Droewors. This shape, compared to biltong's thicker slabs, allows for quicker and more even drying. The result? A slightly softer, chewier texture and a richer, more complex flavour profile that often incorporates coriander, cloves, and nutmeg alongside other spices. So, when you're seeking a convenient, portable snack that's high in protein, low in calories, and bursting with flavour, reach for Droewors and experience a taste of South Africa!

Can you freeze Droewors?
Yes, you can freeze Droewors to extend its’ shelf life. However, it's important to note that even frozen Droewors will still have an expiration date, typically around 12 months from the production date.

How to eat Droewors?
Our Droewors come conveniently sliced into perfect bite-sized pieces, ready to enjoy straight from the package.

Is it Droewors or Droëwors?
The correct spelling is "Droëwors." It includes the diaeresis (two dots) over the "e," which indicates that the two vowels are pronounced separately, making it "Dro-uh-vors."
The pronunciation "Droewors" without the diaeresis (two dots) over the "e" is likely due to the challenges of typing or writing diacritical marks, such as the diaeresis, especially in non-standard keyboards or informal contexts like social media posts or casual conversation.
Additionally, depending on the English dialect or accent, some people may not be familiar with the diaeresis or its significance in indicating separate vowel sounds. As a result, they might pronounce it without the diaeresis, saying "Droewors" instead of "Droëwors."
While "Droëwors" is the technically correct spelling with the diaeresis, variations in pronunciation and spelling can occur based on individual familiarity with the term and linguistic conventions.
